Computations

Each search is a funnel: from all groups (or parents in the $p$-group tree) down to a few candidates whose $D_5$ is computed. The scale is logarithmic. The last step of every funnel is zero.

Method: for finite $G$ the lattice $\Delta^n$ is computed in Howell form over $\mathbb Z/p^E$; non-membership $g-1\notin\Delta^n+p^E\Delta$ proves $g\notin D_n$, membership is confirmed by the certificate $p^{E-1}\Delta\subseteq\Delta^n+p^E\Delta$. For large groups: the truncated Magnus algebra $\mathbb Z[G]/\Delta^n\cong T_{\lt n}(\mathbb Z^k)/I_n$ of a presentation on $k$ generators. Checks: two independent methods, PARI/GP, known values.
